Help us this Kitten Season!
Touched By An Animal is committed to finding loving homes for our “tossed and found” kittens. We are looking for adopters to help us find loving homes for all the kittens currently in our nursery. Call us at 773.728.6336 OR click below to view available cats and kittens.
A New Little Patch of Paradise for Our Kitties
If you have ever loved a cat, you know how much a patch of sun, a soft breeze, or a sprig of catnip can mean.
That is why we are so happy to share our newest addition to the Touched By An Animal sanctuary: a cat “green space” enclosure built right next to our existing catio! It is a small oasis with a very big purpose: giving our cats more room, more enrichment, and more daily joy.
A Sanctuary Space Made for Whiskers, Paws, and Peace
The new, enclosed green space invites our resident, adoptable kitties into a world of safe sensory adventure. Fresh cat grasses and catnip plantings offer the simple pleasures cats love most: soft greens to explore, soothing scents to investigate, and moments of playful curiosity to brighten their days.
A bubbling fountain will add the calming sound of moving water to this peaceful atmosphere where cats can enjoy quiet observation as much as lively play (and perhaps take an occasional sip or dip their paws). Natural climbing branches give them places to perch, climb, stretch, and survey their little kingdom from just the right height.
Your support helped us turn these small comforts into daily gifts for the kitties, and the new green space is one more way we honor the promise at the heart of Touched By An Animal: to preserve the bond between people and their companion animals, and to provide a lifetime home when cats need us most.
If you are in the neighborhood, please come check it out in purrson. In the meantime, enjoy this video and action shot of the first visitors exploring the new space.
Pets to the Vet Update: Bringing Care to Seniors & Their Companion Animals
For many Chicago-area seniors, a beloved pet is more than a companion: it is family, comfort, and a daily source of joy. Through partnership and community outreach, Touched By An Animal’s Pets to the Vet program brings compassionate veterinary care directly to low-income seniors in their living facilities, removing the stress of travel and helping pets get the care they need. As we close out the first half of 2026, the program has already helped 30 pets and their people, and we are on track to double that impact by the end of the year!
This important work is made possible in part by a grant-funded initiative at TBA that is making a real difference for local seniors and their beloved pets. Thanks to support from Pets for the Elderly, qualifying pet owners aged 60 and above can receive a comprehensive veterinary exam for their cat or dog, covered up to $250 per pet.
Our experienced veterinarian provides standard wellness exams, including nail clipping and basic vaccinations. For pets who aren’t feeling well, diagnostic testing helps pinpoint the issue. When a pet needs additional care beyond the grant coverage, TBA actively fundraises to help support those expenses.
As part of this heartwarming program, we take a picture of each senior with their furry companion to share with the foundation sponsoring this initiative. Celebrating the special bond between people and their pets has been integral to TBA’s mission since our inception, and the human-animal connection certainly comes to life in these photos!
How You Can Help
We are proud to support seniors and their animals, and we need your help identifying retirement communities, senior community facilities, and churches where we can organize Pets to the Vet events for the remainder of 2026. Please send location recommendations to Pat Spaulding, the program coordinator, at pat.spaulding@comcast.net. We appreciate your input.
